Guyana: Barbados Royals 156-3, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots 120 - Barbados Royals won by 36 runs

Scorecard

The carnival might have moved to Guyana but the Barbados Royals show marches on in the Caribbean Premier League, courtesy of yet another thumping victory - this time over St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.

Barbados registered their eighth win from nine attempts in the 2022 competition as the Patriots were unable to get close to their 157-run target in Providence.

St Kitts had been 72 for 1 in the 12th over and well placed for a late charge in their pursuit of a playoff place, but Nyeem Young and Mujeeb ur Rahman excelled with the ball to reduce their opponents to 120 all out.

Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb returned figures of 3 for 18 from four overs, while Young pounced with his right-arm seam to claim 3 for 5 in 2.3 overs.

The Patriots' destiny is now out of their own hands: the defending champions only have one more game to play in the group stages and are stuck in fifth place.

Earlier, Azam Khan was the difference between a winning and gettable score.

Pakistan international Azam smashed 64 from 45 balls, including five sixes, and shared in a third-wicket partnership with Irishman Harry Tector which was worth 102 in 12.1 overs.

Tector made 47 at just better than a run a ball; Rashid Khan and Sheldon Cottrell were the Patriots' most economic bowlers, both returning figures of 0 for 19 from four overs.
