Lyon fined after being charged for run out celebration during South Africa clash

Australia offspinner Nathan Lyon has been fined 15 per cent of his match after accepting an ICC charge following his celebration of the run out of AB de Villiers in the first Test against South Africa.

Lyon was found to have committed a level one breach of the code of conduct after dropping the ball onto the strewn batsman after dismissing him during the second innings of the game in Kingsmead.

The ball hit De Villiers as he lay on the ground after diving to attempting to make his ground.

Lyon did not contest the charge, which had a maximum punishment of a 50 per cent fine. He was also handed one ICC demerit point.

Cricket Australia said that the spinner had sought out De Villiers to apologise.

Australia completed a 118-run victory in Durban on Monday morning.
