Under-19s quartet included in Bangladesh squad for Women's T20 World Cup

Shorna Akter, Marufa Akter, Dilara Akter and Disha Biswas will all join up with the senior squad, which will be captained by Nigar Sultana

Bangladesh have named their squad for the 2023 Women's T20 World Cup, with a quartet of players from their Under-19s side included in the 15-strong group

Shorna Akter, Marufa Akter, Dilara Akter and Disha Biswas, all of whom are currently involved in the Under-19s T20 World Cup, will remain in South Africa to join up with the senior squad, which will be captained by Nigar Sultana.

Nahida Akter, Rumana Ahmed, and Salma Khatun, who took a combined 58 T20I wickets in 2022, can be expected to lead the bowling attack while Murshida Khatun and Shamima Sultana are the standout batters alongside the skipper.

One player, however, who is a notable omission is Fargana Hoque, who has only been named among the reserves. Hoque, 29, has made 82 T20I appearances for Bangladesh, scoring 1,236 runs, while only Nigar Sultana and Murshida Khatun scored more T20I runs than her in 2022.

Bangladesh have been placed in group A alongside Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka and will begin their campaign against the latter on February 12 in Cape Town.

They will also contest two practice matches against Ireland and two official warm-up matches against Pakistan (February 6) and India (February 8).
