Scorecard

INDIA

KL Rahul (77): Relatively lethargic strike rate, given Bangladesh were not bowling particularly well. The junior partner in the biggest opening stand of the tournament. 7.5

Rohit Sharma (104): Given a life early in his innings, he made Bangladesh pay with typically graceful yet destructive strokeplay. 8.5

Virat Kohli (26): Ended a run of five consecutive half-centuries by slapping the ball straight down the throat of deep midwicket, on the shorter square boundary. 4

Rishabh Pant (48): Showed glimpses of his explosive potential before holing out when India needed him to keep the momentum going. 6.5

MS Dhoni (35): Another strangely subdued knock at the death, barely looked to accelerate. 4

Hardik Pandya (0 & 3-60): Second-ball duck after being sent in early off the back of a fine start. Collected key wickets at important times. 5

Dinesh Karthik (8): Had to come in late, with no time to settle in. 5

Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2 & 1-51): India's seamers were not at their best, and Kumar was no exception. 6

Mohammed Shami (1 & 1-68): Came in for plenty of treatment, particularly during the lower order's fightback. 4

Jasprit Bumrah (0* & 4-55): More expensive than we are used to seeing from the exceptional seamer, but did the business at the end to wrap up victory. 7

Yuzvendra Chahal (DNB & 1-50): After his difficult day against England, there was a lot more control from the legspinner. 6

Mustafizur Rahim impressed for Bangladesh

BANGLADESH

Tamim Iqbal (22): Another start without being able to go on, as he played on to Shami. It’s been a frustrating World Cup for the opener. 4

Soumya Sarkar (33 & 1-33): Followed the Liam Plunkett example, bowling cutters into the pitch, and got some reward. Relatively subdued knock compared to his explosive best, before he smacked one at Kohli in the covers. 6.5

Shakib Al Hasan (66 & 1-41): Another disciplined and economical performance with the ball, and then another weighty contribution with the bat. What an incredible tournament he is having. 8

Mushfiqur Rahim (24): Got settled, got into his stride, got himself up to a run-a-ball rate, and then got out. 5

Liton Das (22): Threatened to help launch a Bangladesh shock before misjudging a pull and flopping up a catch. 5

Mosaddek Hossain (3 & 0-32): Four expensive overs. Didn't contribute with the bat. 3

Sabbir Rahman (36): An excellent rearguard action with the bat, but found the going too tough in the end. 7

Mohammad Saifuddin (51 & 0-59): Took some treatment from Sharma early on and did not complete his 10 overs. Made up for that with the bat. 7

Mashrafe Mortaza (8 & 0-36): Not particularly effective with the ball, a bit of a passenger in the field. 4

Rubel Hossain (9 & 1-48): Removed KL Rahul at an important time and kept an element of control. 6

Mustafizur Rahman (0 & 5-59): His third five-for against India and thoroughly deserved. Kept nagging away on a tricky line, tight to the batsmen’s bodies, and never let India settle against him. A very useful bowler at the death 8.5
