Scorecard

INDIA

KL Rahul (30): Flunked a reverse sweep off Nabi and scooped a catch to gully. 4

Rohit Sharma (1): Beaten by a ripper from Mujeeb early in his innings, which turned and hit the top of off. 3

Virat Kohli (67): Made batting look a lot easier than most of the rest of India’s middle order, but could not go on to make his first ton of the tournament. 7

Vijay Shankar (29): Forged the makings of an excellent partnership with Kohli before being trapped lbw by part-time spinner Rahmat. 4

MS Dhoni (28): A lethargic innings, ended with a horrible swing and miss to Rashid. A smart stumping to remove Rashid Khan. 4

Kedar Jadhav (53): Without him, India’s innings could have trailed off even more disappointingly, yet he too was unable to up the run rate at the death. 6

Hardik Pandya (7 & 2-51): Unable to find the lusty blows which have become his trademark of late. Off the mark with his bowling, too. 4.5

Kuldeep Yadav (1* & 0-39): A full set of 10 economical overs. 6

Mohammed Shami (1 & 4-40): Held his nerve at the end to make sure of victory with a hat-trick. 7.5

Yuzvendra Chahal (DNB & 2-36): Very tidy spell of spin bowling, making the most of favourable conditions and keeping Afghanistan's batsmen under lock and key. 8

Jasprit Bumrah (1* & 2-39): Terrific again from the master seamer, particularly towards the end of the innings when he found his yorker with unbelievable routine. 8

Virat Kohli made 67 for India

AFGHANISTAN

Hazratullah Zazai (10): Barely got bat on ball during a torturous stay at the wicket. 3

Gulbadin Naib (27 & 2-51): Impressive use of variations at the death with the ball. Seemed to be anchoring the chase before holing out. 7

Rahmat Shah (1-22 & 36): Seriously good five overs for a part-timer, including the wicket of Shankar. Gave his side hope by knuckling down against India’s devastating attack, but gave his wicket away on the pull. 8

Hashmatullah Shahidi (21): Could not hang around after Shah departed, getting a leading edge back to Bumrah. 5

Ikram Ali Khil (7*): Very tidy with the gloves - Afghanistan looked to have made a find with the teenager. A hell of an ask to come in for your 11th List A innings in the circumstances. 7

Asghar Afghan (8): An unnecessary swipe across the line at a crucial time for his side. He is capable of so much more. 3

Mohammad Nabi (2-33): Just as he did in Cardiff against Sri Lanka, Nabi used pace and length to good effect, as he barely turned the ball whatsoever. 8

Najibullah Zadran (21): Afghanistan's best batsman at this tournament seemed to be edging his team towards victory before he chipped a gentle catch to midwicket. 5

Rashid Khan (14 & 1-38): After all the tap he got in Manchester, this was a terrific comeback. Rediscovered the right lengths, which was crucial. 8

Aftab Alam (0 & 1-54): By far the bowler which the Indian batsmen enjoyed facing the most, but still battled manfully, using wide yorkers and slower balls. 6.5

Mujeeb Ur Rahman (0 & 1-26): Picked off Sharma early with one that drifted and held, and backed that up with a disciplined, challenging 10-over display. He’s had a very good week. 8.5
