Pat Brown has signed a new contract with Worcestershire, keeping the seamer at New Road until the end of the 2023 season.
The 21-year-old had two more years remaining on his current deal, having put pen to paper on his first professional contract in 2018, before then extending that agreement in 2019.
He made his England debut during the recent T20I series in New Zealand, having been a key part of the Worcestershire side that won the T20 Blast in 2018 and then lost the 2019 final narrowly against Essex.
Brown was the tournament’s top wicket-taker in 2018, taking 31 wickets in Moeen Ali’s victorious side. That led to the offer of a Bangladesh Premier League deal with Sylhet Sixers, only for a lower back stress fracture to rule him out of the competition.
The injury reoccurred in January 2020, just before he was due to join Melbourne Stars for a stint in the Big Bash. It also ruled him out of the white-ball leg of England’s tour of South Africa.
Worcestershire chairman Fanos Hira said of Brown’s new deal: “We’ve been really impressed with the development of Pat both as a player and as a person.
“He has plenty of qualities that we admire and it’s great news that he has committed to Worcestershire for four years with this contract extension.
“Pat has made such an impact with us in the Blast including the two finals days and his England call-up was well merited. We look forward to seeing him progress further working closely with our coaches and support staff at Worcestershire County Cricket Club.”
