Overseas stars such as Meg Lanning, Alyssa Healy, Elysse Perry, Danni Wyatt and Suzie Bates - all of whom featured in a one-off T20 challenge match last year - are reportedly being lined up to take part
A series of women's exhibition T20 matches are to be staged in India during the IPL play-offs, according to reports.
ESPNcricinfo say three custom-built teams will take part in a round-robin competition at a single venue, followed by a final on May 12.
Chennai has been mentioned as a possible host city for the group stage, as well as Hyderabad and Visakhaptnam.
Overseas stars such as Meg Lanning, Alyssa Healy, Elysse Perry, Danni Wyatt and Suzie Bates - all of whom featured in a one-off T20 challenge match last year - are reportedly being lined up to take part, as well as Deandra Dottin of West Indies, South Africa captain Dane van Niekerk and Sri Lanka's Chamari Atapattu.
The matches are expected to be broadcast and are set to begin four hours before the start of the corresponding fixture in the men's tournament.
The BCCI has opted against attempting to establish a female version of the Indian Premier League, reportedly because of concerns over the quality in depth of women's cricket in India.
