Grace Scrivens to captain England at Under-19s Women's T20 World Cup

The allrounder has been ever-present for Sunrisers since the regional restructuring in 2020, including scoring 233 runs and taking 12 wickets in 12 T20 appearances

Grace Scrivens will captain England at the 2023 Under-19s Women's T20 World Cup.

The allrounder is a member of England's 15-strong squad for the inaugural edition of the tournament and will lead her side out for the first time against Zimbabwe in Potchefstroom on January 15.

Rwanda and Pakistan are also in group B alongside England, with the top three sides in each group progressing to the Super Six stage.

Scrivens, 19, has been ever-present for Sunrisers since the regional restructuring in 2020, scoring 233 runs and taking 12 wickets in 12 T20 appearances. In 19 List A outings for the region, she has scored a further 595 runs and taken 20 wickets.

Having also chalked up appearances for Kent and London Spirit, Scrivens has scored 804 runs at a strike rate of 98.89 and taken 19 wickets while maintaining an economy of 5.94 across her T20 career.

Commenting on being appointed captain, Scrivens said: "I feel very honoured to have been asked to lead my country at a World Cup.

"It's such an exciting tournament, being the first of its kind, and so to be able to captain this side is very special. Leading out the team on Sunday will be such a proud moment for me and my family.

"I can't wait to get going, there's a lot of talent in the squad and we're looking forward to seeing how far we can go!"
