FairBreak Invitational, the women's T20 competition held in Dubai earlier this year, has revised its dates for the second edition, citing "the increase in opportunities for female players around the world" as the reason for the change.

The tournament, which brought together players from more than 35 countries, took place in May and was initially scheduled for next March in Hong Kong. Instead, it will now be held for a fortnight from April 3, ending on April 16.

While a statement from the competition organisers doesn't specifically reference the advent of a Women's Indian Premier League, it has been reported that the inaugural iteration could take place in March, with the BCCI having set aside a window.

"In light of the increase in opportunities for female players around the world and in consultation with players, partners and sponsors, we have decided to move the dates of the FairBreak Invitational 2023 from March to April 2023," said Burji Shroff, chairman of Cricket Hong Kong.

"This time period will enable us to continue to host a world-class event that better ensures the participation of players from across the world."

FairBreak founder Shaun Martyn added: "From our inception it has been FairBreak's mission to maximise opportunities for women and to level the playing field with regards to pay and conditions and to increase the opportunities for women from every country to play cricket."
