Southern Vipers are looking for a new assistant coach and bowling coach following Anya Shrubsole's retirement.

The former England international left Western Storm in April 2022 to reunite with Charlotte Edwards as a player-coach at Vipers.

She went on to make 14 appearances in the Charlotte Edwards Cup, taking 17 wickets with an economy of 7.07 and capturing back-to-back titles.

She was player of the final in 2023 – her last appearance for Vipers – taking 2 for 24 as they defeated The Blaze by seven wickets.

Shrubsole retired from cricket at the end of the 2023 edition of The Hundred, lifting the title as captain of Southern Brave in her final outing.

Speaking to The Cricketer, Edwards, who also brought Shrubsole in as her assistant at Sydney Sixers, said: "I wanted people like her around the group.

"The game looks after good people. That's why I wanted to look after her; she's a good egg and she's been fantastic. I just always had a special bond with Anya because she talked the same language as me."

England quick and Shrubsole's domestic teammate Lauren Bell hailed Shrubsole's influence in an interview with BBC Sport.

"I worked with her on where to start the ball and adapting to conditions. Playing with her has been great because we can chat in real-time about how much it is swinging and how to deal with the situation.

"Having her as captain has been great because she backs me and has confidence in me even if I have a bad set. The more I've grown and matured as a bowler, the more she has backed me."

With two decades of experience in senior women's cricket and over 400 career wickets, Shrubsole's successor will have sizable shoes to fill.
