The former England seamer joins the Charlotte Edwards-led side in a dual player-coach role
Anya Shrubsole has swapped Western Storm for Southern Vipers ahead of the 2022 domestic season.
The 30-year-old, who retired from England duty earlier this month following the World Cup, has joined in a player-coach capacity.
During a 14-year international career, she took 227 wickets in 173 matches and was part of the 2017 World Cup win. Last summer captained The Ageas Bowl-based Southern Brave in the inaugural edition of The Hundred.
Shrubsole, a Somerset native, will work alongside head coach Charlotte Edwards, the ex-England captain, on the south coast.
"I am really looking forward to playing for Southern Vipers and have the opportunity to work with and learn from Charlotte Edwards," she said.
"Fast bowling is something I am passionate about so I am incredibly grateful to be given the responsibility to work with some young, exciting seamers as I transition into life after international cricket.

"I have a lot to learn which excites me immensely and I can’t wait to get started."
Following the conclusion of the Twenty20 Cup, the 20-over Charlotte Edwards Cup begins in May before the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy - Vipers are the two-time defending champions - between July and September.
Captained by Georgia Adams, Vipers can boast the likes of Maia Bouchier, Danni Wyatt, Charlie Dean, Georgia Elwiss and Lauren Bell in their ranks.
Director of women’s cricket Adam Carty added: "We’re delighted that Anya is joining the Southern Vipers as player-coach for the 2022 season and beyond.
"Anya’s affiliation with Berkshire Women meant it felt a natural fit for Anya to become a Viper and her vast international experience will help provide so much invaluable knowledge and support to our bowlers of today and prospects of tomorrow.
"We’re looking forward to the start of the new season and Anya’s arrival only adds to the sense of excitement within the group."
