Chelmsford: Essex 157, Warwickshire 160-5 - Warwickshire won by five wickets

Katie George struck an unbeaten 42 from 71 balls to wrap up Warwickshire's first One Day Cup victory of the campaign as they overcame Essex by five wickets at Chelmsford.

Teenage opener Davina Perrin's 43 from 59 laid the foundations for the Bears' response to a modest target of 158 before George's innings guided her side across the line with 56 balls to spare.

Warwickshire flattened their hosts for just 157, with the wickets split evenly among five bowlers and more than 10 overs unused despite home skipper Grace Scrivens' knock of 59 from 88.

But a fragile batting line-up shorn of the in-form Jodi Grewcock, a late withdrawal due to injury, shed six wickets for 33, and it was only thanks to Sophia Smale's defiant unbeaten 28 that Essex clambered above 150.

Headingley: Yorkshire 280-9, The Blaze 210 - Yorkshire won by 70 runs

Australian overseas star Jess Jonassen hit 67 and claimed 4 for 18 as Yorkshire sealed a maiden tier one victory over last season's three-time semi-finalists The Blaze in a helter-skelter One Day Cup clash at Headingley.

Both sides endured batting collapses on a true surface, though The Blaze's proved terminal as - chasing 281 - they fell from 126 for 1 to 210 all out inside 42 overs, losing by 70 runs.

Jonassen, on home debut, supported home captain Lauren Winfield-Hill's 90. She hit 10 fours and a six in 57 balls amidst a second-wicket century stand as the White Rose posted 280 for 9 following away defeats to Somerset and Surrey.

Her seven overs of left-arm spin then put the skids under the visiting chase, including the key wickets of half-centurions Marie Kelly and Kathryn Bryce. The Blaze had beaten champions Lancashire in their opening game.
