PLAYER RATINGS: Annabel Sutherland and Meg Lanning continue England's misery

The Cricketer looks at the individual performances from the third ODI of the Women's Ashes, as the multi-format series came to an end in Melbourne

AUSTRALIA

Alyssa Healy (42): The more fluent of the two Aussie openers with six boundaries. Could have gone on but got out to one that stuck in the pitch. Best score in any form of cricket since mid-December. 7

Rachael Haynes (31): Quite a poor dismissal, holing out to Emma Lamb down the ground. Part of an opening stand of 74 that broke the back of the chase. 6

Meg Lanning (57*): Took the opportunity to find some form before the World Cup with a 15th ODI fifty. Polished off the chase with a fine six. Rotated bowlers well. 8

Ellyse Perry (31*; 1-18): After injury undid her 2020 World Cup campaign, she rocks up to the 50-over tournament in fine form with bat and ball. A lovely delivery that did just enough got Lamb. 7

Tahlia McGrath (DNB; 1-23): England didn't really know how to play her and the ball that got Knight was virtually unplayable. Named player of the series, highlighting the talent Australia have at their disposal. 6

Ashleigh Gardner (DNB; DNB): Not required with bat or ball. Good on the mic. 5

Annabel Sutherland (DNB; 4-31): The pick of the bowlers with four wickets that largely came as England tried to up the ante. Ball that got Ecclestone was a cracking yorker. 8

Nicola Carey (DNB; 0-13): Radar was a bit off (three wides in four overs) but allowed Lanning to protect her front-line bowlers. 6

Jess Jonassen (DNB; 1-20): Only brought on for a short spell but cleaned up the England tail by bowling Davies but it was otherwise a quiet day. 5

Alana King (DNB; 1-29): Looks so accomplished at this level and got rid of Beaumont just as she looked to be upping the scoring rate. 6

Megan Schutt (DNB; 2-25): The most frugal bowler of the attack and got her rewards late on, trapping Sciver and bowling the reckless Jones. Fine catch to get rid of Wyatt. 7

ENGLAND

Tammy Beaumont (50): Broke a run of 47 innings since her last ODI fifty with a knock that lacked impetus for long periods. After absorbing 101 balls, she tamely chipped straight to mid-off. 6

Emma Lamb (0): The 133rd woman to represent England lasted two balls on debut, playing down completely the wrong line to a ball that did a little from Perry.

Heather Knight (9): Not much the England skipper could do about this one as Tahlia McGrath yorker crashed into her off-stump. 2

Nat Sciver (46): Two boundaries in 95 balls summed up the England knock. Hard work was undone when she was struck on the back leg. 6

Danni Wyatt (9): Tried to inject some electricity into the innings and there is an argument she could come in earlier. Well caught by Schutt. 2

Amy Jones (4): A wretched tour with the bat ends with a horrid heave which saw her bowled. Dropping Healy, when every chance had to stick, compounded a miserable afternoon. 2

Freya Davies (William West/AFP/Getty Images)

Sophie Ecclestone (2; 1-18): Came in at No.6 as England went with the extra batter and was dismissed by one of the balls of the innings by Sutherland. Ended Haynes' progress but Knight will need her at her best next month. 5

Charlie Dean (18; 0-35): Did herself no disgrace with either bat or ball on debut. Took a bit of punishment as Australia chased victory. 5

Anya Shrubsole (2; 0-20): Understandably had very little impact with the ball with so few runs behind her. Will hope partner in crime Katherine Brunt is fit to return 5

Tash Farrant (7; 0-44): A good option for England going forward and she will cause problems at the World Cup. Took a pasting in her 6.2 overs but she'll return better for it. 4

Freya Davies (1; 1-46): Got the deserved wicket of Healy after having her dropped by Jones and could have had more. Bowled with good shape, seam up, and will get good results on green pitches in New Zealand. 6
