Kieron Pollard appointed new West Indies white-ball captain

The 32-year-old replaces Jason Holder and Carlos Brathwaite following the World Cup and the series defeats to India

West Indies have confirmed Kieron Pollard as their new one-day and T20 captain.

The 32-year-old replaces Jason Holder as the 50-over skipper and Carlos Braithwaite as the leader in the shorter format.

Pollard has not played an ODI since 2016 and has sporadically been involved with the T20 squad in recent years.

CWI president Ricky Skerritt confirmed the decision following a quarterly board meeting in Tobago.

"We believe Kieron Pollard is the right person at the right time now to lead the West Indies team in white-ball cricket," he said.

"Jason Holder is a very important force and he is still going to be our red ball captain."

The Windies face Afghanistan in three T20s and three ODIs in Pollard's first assignment in November.
