Shimron Hetmyer, Sheldon Cottrell, Roston Chase lose out on West Indies central contracts

Cricket West Indies have announced the men's central contract list for 2021/22.

Several big names miss out on deals altogether, with Shimron Hetmyer and Sheldon Cottrell losing their white-ball contracts.

Nkrumah Bonner, Joshua Da Silva, Akeal Hosein and Kyle Mayers have been awarded retainers for the first time, while new Test captain Kraigg Brathwaite and Darren Bravo have been handed red-ball and white-ball contracts respectively.

Former vice-captain Roston Chase loses his all-format deal. 

Players were assessed for their performances between April 1, 2020 and April 1, 2021, with consideration also taken of their returns in the previous 12-month period.

The other former contract holders to miss out include Shamarh Brooks and Shane Dowrich (red-ball), and Sunil Ambris, Brandon King, Keemo Paul, Rovman Powell, Romario Shepherd and Oshane Thomas (white-ball).

Jason Holder is the only holder of an all-format contract, while the total number of retainers has dropped by four from 22 to 18.
