Think about cricket in the Caribbean and what do you picture? It's probably a big party with music, dancing, drinking – just good times, whatever's happening on the pitch.

And in that region, Antigua & Barbuda can lay claim as the pioneers of the trademark West Indian atmosphere.

At the Antigua Recreation Ground, it was Chicky's Disco that started the trend when Sir Viv Richards was a boy watching the West Indies in his home country – and now, that tradition continues at the stadium which bears his name.

"That's where it all started," said Sir Viv. "The party atmosphere then spread throughout the region."

His fellow Antiguan Curtly Ambrose agrees.

"I've had the privilege of travelling around the world playing cricket, but cricket in the West Indies is totally different," said Ambrose.

"The atmosphere, the music, the party vibes – it's totally different in the Caribbean. And there's no place in the Caribbean like Antigua.

"We've both travelled all over the region playing and the atmosphere in the Caribbean is totally different. Antigua's the place to be."

And he isn't just talking about watching cricket either. Antigua is known as 'the Land of 365 Beaches' for a reason, along with a rich cultural and musical heritage.

For foodies, it's also the perfect destination and nature lovers can enjoy Codrington Lagoon National Park – the largest frigate bird colony on Earth in the western hemisphere.

So, with regular flights from both Heathrow and Gatwick Airports, what's stopping you from enjoying all that this vibrant island nation has to offer?

For Sir Andy Roberts and Sir Richie Richardson, two more Antiguan legends of the game, it's simply "the best place in the world to watch cricket!"
