Offspinner Molly Strano claims 4 for 16 as Hurricanes dismissed the Renegades for 80 before securing victory after a reply lasting just 10.4 overs
Hobart: Melbourne Renegades 80, Hobart Hurricanes 82-2 - Hobart Hurricanes won by eight wickets
Hobart Hurricanes gave their playoff hopes a major boost after beating Melbourne Renegades by eight wickets in the Women's Big Bash League at Bellerive Oval.
Molly Strano (4 for 16) claimed her sixth four-wicket haul in T20 cricket as Renegades were bowled out for 80 in 17.2 overs.
In what was the Hurricanes' best WBBL bowling performance they laid the groundwork for a convincing victory.
Courtney Webb (30) and Hayley Matthews (20) tried to keep the innings on track but seven Gades batters failed to score more than two.

Hurricanes took their dominance into the chase, with Elyse Villani (41 not out) and Heather Graham (23 not out) putting on an unbeaten 48 for the second wicket in 6.2 overs.
Sophie Molineux claimed 2 for 20 but it was too little, too late for Renegades who remain seventh in the table after seven defeats in nine games.
Simon Helmot's side remain winless since the opening week of the campaign when they overcame Adelaide Strikers by four wickets.
The victory means Hurricanes, who secured the win with 56 balls to spare, stay fifth but have closed the gap to Perth Scorchers to two points with a game in hand.
