Adelaide: Brisbane Heat 100-6, Hobart Hurricanes 101-4 – Hobart Hurricanes won by six wickets

Scorecard

Hobart Hurricanes got the better of Brisbane Heat in Adelaide to keep themselves well and truly in the hunt for top spot.

When the two sides met earlier in the tournament, Brisbane Heat came out of nowhere to sneak a four-wicket win with two balls to spare thanks to a 29-ball 68 from Laura Harris.

On this occasion, however, the tables were turned, with the Hurricanes chasing down 101 with three balls unused to complete a six-wicket win and move themselves to within two points of top spot. Sitting in third place, they trail the Heat by just a single point and have now won four of their past five games.

Playing a rain-reduced 13-over innings, Grace Harris (41 off 30) and Laura Harris (32 off 20) did the bulk of the scoring for the Heat, including sharing a 49-run fourth-wicket stand off just 27 balls to help their team close on 100 for 6.

Charli Knott (seven not out) was the next highest scorer while Molly Strano and Hayley Jensen continued their fine form with the ball, taking 1 for 13 and 1 for 9, respectively.

In reply, Lizelle Lee got Hobart's chase off to a bright start, scoring 24 runs off 19 balls and sharing a 44-run stand with Mignon du Preez (37 off 29) before being removed by Nicola Hancock.

Heather Graham fell in the same over before a 37-run fourth-wicket stand between du Preez and Elyse Villani (26 not out off 17), batting down at No.5 instead of opening, carried the Hurricanes to the brink of victory.

Du Preez was dismissed by Jess Jonassen at the end of the 12th over but Villani and Nicola Carey kept their composure to tick off the final three runs.
