Alice Capsey will represent Melbourne Stars in the 2022/23 Women's Big Bash.

The allrounder, who was the emerging star of the inaugural season of The Hundred, has made eight T20I appearances for England since making her international debut in July, scoring 192 runs and taking one wicket. The teenager was England's standout performer with the bat at the Commonwealth Games, scoring 135 runs, including one half-century.

The 18-year-old allrounder, who bowls off-spin in addition to batting in the top four, has played an integral role in Oval Invincibles' back-to-back wins in The Hundred, scoring 268 runs and taking 18 wickets across both seasons, and also steered South East Stars to Charlotte Edwards Cup glory in 2021.

This will be Capsey's first stint in the WBBL, although she does have experience of Australian conditions after representing England A on an overseas tour earlier in 2022.

Commenting on joining Melbourne Stars, Capsey said: "I can't wait to get to Australia, I've heard so many great things from the English players going over to the WBBL and I'm excited to experience that.

"I'm looking forward to playing against some of the best players in the world and playing in Australian conditions."

General manager, Blair Crouch, added: "We're really excited to see Alice this summer and hopefully she can reproduce what she has already shown on the international stage in the WBBL.

"The WBBL continues to be the world's best domestic T20 competition for women and it's great to have a player of Alice's skill and talent join the Stars family."
