Warwickshire first-team coach Jim Troughton admitted to having to calm himself down in the aftermath of the home defeat by Durham which leaves his side rooted to the foot of the Royal London One-Day Cup North Group.

The Bears have still to win in the competition this season after Durham claimed a seven-wicket victory on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method at Edgbaston.

Troughout was unhappy with the performance and gave a frank assessment of his feelings after the game.

"The disappointing thing is we are just looking very tentative and not showing the stuff we have been working on or the stuff we did over in (the training camp in) Abu Dhabi. It is apparent that the guys are not backing themselves to play the way that we know they can play," he said.

Warwickshire captain Jeetan Patel talks to his players

"If you can't do that then you are going to come up short and put yourself under pressure.

"I am having to calm myself down after the chat we have just had in the dressing-room because I am passionate about us putting in performances that are reflective of the ability that we have got in that dressing-room. That wasn't the case today."

Warwickshire have now been beaten by Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire in addition to Durham, with their sole point coming in the dramatic tie with Yorkshire.

Troughton added: "A lot of energy went into the tied game against a very experienced Yorkshire team and Northants and Notts are also quite experienced and you can maybe make some allowance for that against the guys we have got in the XI, but that excuse isn't there today because Durham's team is equally young and inexperienced and they have shown us how to play 50-over cricket."
