The former West Indies international has penned a month-long loan deal at Edgbaston purely focused on T20 cricket
Fidel Edwards has joined Birmingham Bears on loan from Hampshire on a 10-match deal for the start of the T20 Blast.
The former West Indies international, who signed a new red-ball contract with Hampshire at the start of the 2019 season, has penned a month-long loan deal at Edgbaston purely focused on T20 cricket.
Edwards has enjoyed another fruitful four-day campaign for Hampshire in Division One of the County Championship, claiming 40 wickets at an average of 23.90 so far this season.
He will return to the Ageas Bowl for the resumption of the County Championship.
Birmingham have found themselves short on seam bowlers in recent weeks, with Olly Stone’s call-up for England duty the latest disruption to their attack.
Paul Farbrace, sport director at Warwickshire, said: “Fidel is high class fast bowler, who has played international cricket across all three formats, and we’re very grateful to Hampshire for allowing him to come to Edgbaston at such short notice.
“It’s well known that our seam bowling resources have been stretched in recent weeks, but the addition of Fidel bolsters our attack as we enter this important opening weekend of the Vitality Blast.”
