The Northern Superchargers were in control of proceedings for the most part of the second innings - but fine margins allowed the hosts' middle order to dig in, anchored by short-form veteran Alex Hales
A Trent Rockets side which were at one stage 21-3 recovered remarkably to beat the Northern Superchargers at Trent Bridge.
Having elected to bowl first, the top order including Ben Stokes faltered, before the Superchargers' Harry Brook and John Simpson did the bulk of the work to push the side to 135.
However, they looked in control of the chase for most of the fives, with an incredible couple of balls seeing Dawid Malan and Joe Root dismissed consecutively. Alex Hales struck the winning runs, with Rashid Khan and Matt Carter also making contributions in the lower order.
The Superchargers have won the toss and elected to bat first.
Ball 7: There’s the first wicket of the day! Chris Lynn hasn’t managed to get going here. Matt Carter, who comes into the side due to COVID-19, is on the scoreboard early, as he floats one on middle, a tempter, and Lynn looks to pursue the sweep. It only finds his top edge and looks straight to point, where Rashid Khan takes a simple one. 6-1
Ball 11: Lovely four from Stokes! The boundaries begin. It’s Stokes national teammate Joe Root who bowls on a good length, Stokes opens his body and fires it low and through midwicket to the rope. 11-1
Ball 16: Run out chance… missed - and then four overthrows! A fielding mess, here. First, Carter finds Stokes’ pads on the sweep, appeals for LBW, no good, the run is not called but non-striker Lyth doesn’t get the memo. It’s thrown to Lyth’s end, but hits him and goes to the boundary! 17-1
Ball 17: And just like that, Stokes has to go! Leaving for England v India duty after this game, his final chance to entertain with the bat is over. Carter completely gets the better of him, as he tempts again with the quicker ball, and his lofted shot is mistimed, sailing easily to Alex Hales who catches without trouble. 17-2

Ball 34: Bowled ‘im! Rashid Khan strikes! Adam Lyth trudges back to the hut. The Afghan spinner puts it full and aims at leg - but Lyth strides across to open himself up for the sweep shot, exposing his wicket. He is beaten and Khan doesn’t miss the stump. John Simpson comes in, and he will want to form a long partnership with Harry Brook now. 38-3
Ball 60: Lovely four! Khan returns for his third five, but has taken some punishment here. John Simpson, aware of the situation, decides to go for the sweep, leaves it late but still times it well. He trickles it through fine leg to the rope - that's three in the last five, and the Rockets take a strategic timeout. 74-3
Ball 72: Half a chance but through the fingers! It's a short ball from Lewis Gregory and Brook flashes at it, it finds a top edge and flies towards third man. Samit Patel jumps for it but grazes his fingertips. Would be harsh to call a drop - but Brook won't complain about the resulting four! 99-3
Ball 73: But he's rode his luck just one ball too many, and Brook is caught! It's a similar delivery to the previous one, it's a touch wide though and once again Brook looks to dispatch it over point, but it's top edged and loops upward, where Marchant de Lange calls for it and takes accordingly. 99-4

Ball 82: Castled! Kohler-Cadmore is dismissed now. Rashid Khan floats on middle, a quicker one, and the 26-year-old looks to manouevre his feet to fire through the leg side, but a low bounce beats him and takes the stumps. 107-5
Ball 85: Mujeeb goes big, but is dismissed by his compatriot! The Afghan spinners on opposing sides share a quick laugh. Rashid Khan goes for a fuller one and ur-Rahman takes a step to give himself some room, but the shot is mistimed and heads towards long-on, where Alex Hales runs in and catches mid-sprint. Great take. 109-6
Ball 86: Caught first ball! Duck for David Willey! He's a hard hitter and would have wanted his cameo to be longer than this. He tries to entertain right away by meeting Marchant de Lange's full toss, he turns and looks to scoop towards third man. It's in the air and the incoming Samit Patel throws himself towards it on the dive, but makes no mistake. 109-7

Ball 87: Two-in-two! Marchant de Lange is on a hat-trick. Brydon Carse has to leave as soon as he gets to the crease, as he hacks at de Lange's full and straight one. It floats to cover where two fielders are under it, but Lewis Gregory asserts it is his, and reels it into his chest. 109-8
Ball 97: John Simpson goes! De Lange has his third of the night. Simpson walks off with 42 off 33, a good return, but he walks now. Full llength delivery, a tad slower, and Simpson floats it straight to mid-off. Alex Hales has his second catch of the game. 124-9

Ball 99: Run-out! Superchargers 132 all out! Adil Rashid digs out a yorker from De Lange, and it trickles towards backward point. It's thrown back quickly and Rashid, who wants a quick second, is miles out. No need for the third umpire. 132-10 a.o.
It's the second time in The Hundred a team has been bowled out, and the total seems a touch short. Can the Superchargers defend 132?
Ball 6: Shot! Six for D’Arcy Short! David Willey invites this one as he gets the length wrong, and it goes right into the slot. Short shuffles himself over and flicks over deep backward point for a maximum. 10-0
Ball 14: Gone! Mujeeb strikes! The Australian got off to a solid start with the six, but he swings his bat in annoyance as he walks off with 14. Mujeeb ur Rahman tosses it on middle, and Short looks to go big - but the sweep shot misses, review confirms it’s crashing the middle pole, sp the Rockets lose their first wicket and their review. 20-0
Ball 17: Got him! Dawid Malan, the highest ranked T20 batsman in the world, has to go. Adil Rashid does the trick, again. Tossed up full, Malan shifts across and looks to club it through the on-side. He is beaten by the leggie and it turns right into his pad - the umpire doesn’t wait around to lift his finger. 20-2
Ball 18: And again! Caught and bowled! Joe Root goes first ball! Ben Stokes has a ripe smile on his face, because he made the decision to put Rashid on, and he’s got it spot on. Similar to the previous ball, he goes for the leg-break which pitches full, Root looks to block but it’s a top edge that hops right back to Rashid who catches. Trent Bridge is silent! 21-3

Ball 29: Samit Patel has launched this for six! He’s the most experienced player in this team in terms of overall games played, and he showed his nous there by just waiting for Parkinson to go full and on off stump, stepping out and firing over long-on. 34-3
Ball 34: But he’s gone now - Parkinson strikes back! A massive wicket. Patel hangs his head after he edges to John Simpson, after Parkinson went full and quicker. This is by no means an easy take too, it finishes up in Simpson’s glove webbing low down. Into the middle order, Alex Hales becomes the priority to dismiss now. 36-4
Ball 45: Edged and taken! Tom Moores is dismissed now. The left-hander finds the leading edge, as Stokes goes a touch quicker and shorter, which foxes Moores, who swings out but can only nick it to a grateful John Simpson who makes no mistake. Stokes atoning for his lack of runs with the bat before he makes his way to the England camp. 41-5

Ball 53: In the air... six! Gregory swipes at this fuller one from Mujeeb ur Rahman towards midwicket, and it's a flat one. David Willey runs in and dives in the air to try go for a stunner with one hand, but it's just too quick for him and it beats the rope. Much neeed boundary. 56-5
Ball 58: Bowled 'im! Parkinson reintroduced and gets the wicket. Ben Stokes gets another one right here, to go back to spin. Parkinson puts it full, a quicker one and Gregory is beaten by the movement - as he tries to jab into the leg-side the ball creeps round his bat and dislodges middle. 58-6
Ball 67: Six! Rashid concedes his first big one of the night. It's floated straight and on off-stump, and Rashid Khan steps into it and absolutely whacks one over the covers and across the rope. A little bit of pressure on the Superchargers now - and the crowd making a noise once more!
Ball 70: Got him! Stokes strikes again! Rashid Khan gets himself 25, a short and sweet cameo, but he has to get back now after Ben Stokes brings himself back into the attack. It's short, quick and moving away from the batsman who lashes out, ginds the top edge and Simpson makes an easy catch. 85-7
Ball 76: Up it goes, Stokes primes himself to catch... down! He cannot believe it. A pitch invader caused this ball to be replayed, and Hales, who is somehow batting at a strike rate below 100, thwacks it to long-off. It's too short and Stokes gets ready to catch... but he puts it down and over the rope! The crowd react with a cheer and gestures of varying degrees of family friendliness. 97-7

Ball 82: Gone, LBW! Luke Wood goes! Mujeeb strikes in his final five, as he puts it on a length, cutting inside towards leg stump. Wood goes for the sweep but his bat is beaten, the pads are struck and the finger goes up. 103-8
Ball 90: Hales thwacks one over long-on! Ben Stokes is forced to retake this one due to a wide, and he puts it right into the slot. Hales shuffles a bit and never misses out in these situations. This is getting close, suddenly. 117-8
Ball 91: BANG! Matt Carter has demolished this! It's a full toss from Willey outside off, and it's just not quite wide enough. It allows Carter to wallop one over cow corner and into the hoardings. Their WinViz projection shoots up 40% in one ball. 123-8
Ball 94: ALEX HALES WINS IT FOR TRENT ROCKETS! Wow, what a comeback, what a game! Trent Bridge has just erupted! Hales looked like he was being written off as he failed to get started during the middle overs, and got a lifeline when Stokes put him down - and he didn't waste it, with a no-ball leading to him smashing David Willey over mid-wicket and into a raucous crowd to win the game. 134-8
Rashid Khan was named Hero of the Match. "As a team we have the ability and the belief in ourselves", he said. WinViz had his side condemned at 7% at one point, but his 25 off 12 contributed to the recovery. "Everything happens so quickly, and we knew that anything around 60, 70 in the last five overs we could chase that."
Asked about his own performance with the ball, he said: "Pretty happy to be in the wickets. Bowled a few bad balls, which I hardly bowl, and I'm not too happy with the way I bowled" But you need to have a strong mindset in formats like The Hundred and T20, to express the skills you have", he added. "But to see the crowd, the way they're supporting us is amazing. Hopefully we can continue to entertain them and keep doing good things."
