Scorecard

Manchester Originals finally got off the mark in the women's Hundred with a rain-affected win over Southern Brave.

Three wickets each for debutants Hannah Jones and former England spinner Alex Hartley meant the visitors only made 123 from their full allocation.

The Originals were always ahead in the chase thanks to Lizelle Lee's unbeaten 43 from 32 balls before the rain called a halt to proceedings.

Victory, achieved by 17 runs via Duckworth-Lewis-Stern, is the Kate Cross' side's first in the competition while the Brave's 100 per cent start has ended.

Here's how the action unfolded...

Ball 4: Wow! What a statement of intent from Mandhana, who unleashes one down the ground on the run.

Ball 7: Rather gentle from Ecclestone and Danni Wyatt sees her coming, lofting the ball down the ground for a second boundary.

Ball 12: Some wonderful straight hitting from this Originals opening pair. Mandhana cracks this one over extra cover.

Ball 15: Wyatt gets to the pitch of the ball and thumps it down the ground again. That's three in the over off the helpless Emma Lamb.

Ball 24: A wicket for Hannah Jones in her first over of the competition! Mandhana goes down the ground again but can't get hold of it and she finds the safe hands of captain Kate Cross.

Ball 27: This looks like a nasty fall for Emma Lamb, who cuts the ball off on the boundary after another Wyatt drive but stays down having scooped the ball safe.

Ball 36: Is that a drop? Sophia Dunkley hits one back towards Natalie Brown, who gets a hand to it but can't cling on. Hit at her, rather to her it must be said. A half chance.

Ball 42: Jones slips out a full toss, probably as a result of the wet outfield, but it comes good as Wyatt can only find the fielder. Such a soft dismissal but as Tammy Beaumont says "it is such an underrated delivery".

Ball 49: The Brave have drawn a halt to the scoring but Dunkley gets one through the fielders, finding the rope which just evades Hartley on the boundary.

Ball 51: Pace on, pace off; it doesn't matter for the Brave. Dunkley's timing is impeccable again and she creams this through extra cover.

Hannah Jones took three wickets on debut

Ball 73: Success at last for Alex Hartley, who gets her first wicket in The Hundred. Dunkley sweeps a tame delivery but she gets a top-edge and Hannah Jones does the rest. Dunkley throws her bat to the floor in frustration.

Ball 89: Maia Boucher tries to hit with the breeze but only gets a leading edge and Kate Cross runs around to take the catch. And Hartley has a second!

Ball 90: Golden arm Hartley strikes again. Amanda-Jade Wellington gets on the reverse sweep and she is trapped in front. Ball-tracking tells us the ball would have missed, but try taking that away from the former England spinner.

Ball 95: The Originals are now getting plenty of joy with pace off and Jones is enjoyed a fine afternoon, collecting her third wicket as Anya Shrubsole heaves wildly and gets nowhere near the ball.

An innings of two halves at Old Trafford and in the end the hosts will be the happier. They need 124 to open their account against a good Brave bowling attack...

Ball 6: Smash. Lizelle Lee gets to the pitch of the ball and slams it over cover and through the rope for four. Barnstorming start.

Ball 18: Bell goes too full and Emma Lamb can just screw that through backward point for a boundary.

Ball 19: Beauty! Lamb gets down on one knee and left Lauren Bell over her head for four. The gumption to try that shot.

Ball 25: We have a game. Rain has been drifting around the Old Trafford area but we're a quarter of the way through this chase and therefore we have a game. Hopefully, we don't need DLS.

Ball 35: Not the best running between these two and Lee is almost gone again but Charlotte Taylor can't gather the ball in.

Ball 38: Never run on a misfield. Anya Shrubsole makes a mess collecting the ball but Lamb sets off and once the England quick adjusts she throws down the stumps.

Ball 45: Chance? Sophia Dunkley certainly makes up the ground but the ball bounces just short of her despairing dive. Mignon du Preez survives.

Ball 54: Wow what a hit! The first six of the match as Lee swats the ball down the ground. She learned that front leg but it looked like a push that went all the way.

Ball 68: Bouchier coming in, but it goes all the way for six! Du Preez has played with fire during this knock but that gives the Originals a margin for error.

The umpires had no choice but to call time on proceedings

Ball 70: And we're finally off. Rain falling with most persistence now and now we wait. The home side are comfortably ahead of DLS.

The Player of the match Lee said: "It's a brilliant wicket, it came on to the bat quite nicely, but I have to credit to the bowlers. I thought we were going to chase 140-150 but they brought it back for us. If it's in the slot it has to go and this game it paid off. [(DLS) takes care of itself, we have to play our own game."

Southern Brave: 123 runs off 100 balls (11 fours)

Manchester Originals: 97 runs off 70 balls (nine fours, two sixes)

Manchester Originals win!
