Tough one, as this will be the opening fixture for both sides.
Both teams had a rather disappointing campaign last season, failing to make it to the knockout stage of the tournament.
Superchargers finished higher than their opponents, winning three of their completed games but suffering four defeats.
The Originals ended the group stage just one place behind the Superchargers but only managed to record two wins. They were unlucky in the fact that two of their games ended in no result, one of which was against the Northern Superchargers.
The only match between these two sides last year saw the Superchargers dominate proceedings, winning by 69 runs. John Simpson played a magnificent innings, hitting an unbeaten 71 runs off just 28 balls. This helped his side reach a competition-record of 200, the highest overall score in last year's tournament. With the runs in the bag, they cruised to victory as the Manchester Originals were bowled out for 131.
Following Ollie Robinson's call up to the England squad to face South Africa later this month, he will not feature for the Manchester Originals. In preparation for his return to international cricket, Robinson has opted to continue at Sussex and play in the Royal London Cup instead.
Essex's Paul Walter has replaced Jamie Overton, who will miss several matches due to hand and foot injuries.
West Indian star Andre Russell has been plagued with hamstring problems, therefore it will be tough keeping him fit for the whole tournament. Richard Gleeson's form has seen him win an England call-up, but he has not long returned from a serious back injury. Without these two, death bowling options for the Originals looks very scarce.
What fans can be certain of is the appearance of Jos Buttler, newly-appointed England white-ball skipper. After having a stop-start tournament last year due to commitments to the Test team, Buttler is set to feature throughout the tournament.
For the Northern Superchargers, the big miss will be England Test Captain Ben Stokes, who is missing The Hundred in order to manage his workload and fitness.
Jordan Clark has replaced Brydon Carse, who suffered an injury in England's first ODI against South Africa. Matthew Potts will only be available for the first two matches before rejoining the national side ahead of their Test series against South Africa. Micheal Pepper has replaced Luke Wright.
Faf du Plessis will captain the side after missing out last year's tournament with a concussion concern. He is joined by other overseas stars Wahab Riaz (transferred from Trent Rockets), David Wiese and Dwayne Bravo.
Confirming that he will only feature in the first two rounds of fixtures in this year's Hundred, Northern Superchargers will have to utilise the youthful freshness of Potts. The 23-year-old finds awkward bounce and although he doesn't bowl at a super-fast pace, he has a habit of troubling the world's best, dismissing Kane Williamson three times and Virat Kohli once this summer.
Added together with the experience of spinner Adil Rashid, and Northern Superchargers look like they have a formidable bowling attack. Nobody took more wickets than Rashid's 12 in last year's Hundred, with the England bowler also posting best bowling figures of 3 for 13 and an economy rate of 6.41. He is currently second in the ICC's T20 rankings and has taken more wickets in white-ball cricket than any other England spinner. Plus, he has the experience of playing franchise cricket all across the world.
But will they be a match for the Manchester Originals' powerful batting line-up? With the likes of talisman Buttler and destructive finisher Russell, the squad has certainly improved from last year. The big-hitting pair boast impressive figures, with Buttler hitting four centuries in this year's IPL, and Russell scoring almost 7,000 runs in T20 cricket at a fearless strike-rate of 169.5.
Russell will also become an asset to the Originals with his ability to bowl in the regions of 90mph, picking up 17 wickets for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2022 IPL.
With Buttler and Russell’s expansive shot variation and terrifying power-hitting, fireworks will never be too far away. However they will need to be watchful of Potts and Rashid, who will no doubt provide a response if they get hit into the stands.

The Originals have more depth in their batting line up and will be looking to this season off to a positive start by beating their rivals. They may be favourites for this one, however, the mix of experience and young talent in the Superchargers' squad means they will be up for the fight. Expect it to be close.
