Twenty of the top players from around the world entering the draft for The Hundred have been revealed ahead of the competition’s launch.
England’s World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan has been confirmed, alongside the Australian pair of Steve Smith and David Warner, West Indies star Chris Gayle and former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, according to Sky Sports and BBC, the competition's broadcast parners.
The identities of the eight teams, as well as the destinations of England’s red-ball players, local icons and England Women centrally-contracted players, will all be confirmed on Thursday.
The full draft, which will see the vast majority of the squads selected, is then set to take place on October 20 – the first of its kind in English cricket.
Other names to have been confirmed ahead of the competition include: Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Babar Azam, Tom Curran, Quinton De Kock, Faf du Plessis, Aaron Finch, Rashid Khan, Lasith Malinga, Liam Plunkett, Kieron Pollard, Kagiso Rabada, Jason Roy, Mitchell Starc and Kane Williamson.
Other England stars, such as Test captain Joe Root, have not been included on the draft list because they will be allocated their teams during Thursday's mini-draft, during which each franchise will be able to select up to three players.
