Jack Brooks has joined Notts Outlaws on a two-week loan ahead of their T20 Blast opener against Derbyshire Falcons on Friday.

The Somerset seamer is the second player to join Notts on loan this week, with Surrey's Conor McKerr also heading to Trent Bridge.

Nottinghamshire are struggling with injuries heading into the Blast, with Luke Fletcher and Olly Stone on the sidelines and Jake Ball still short on match fitness.

Brooks joins at a time where Blast fixtures come thick and fast for the Outlaws. After their opening game at Trent Bridge they travel to Lancashire Lightning and Durham over the bank holiday weekend before returning home to face Yorkshire Vikings on May 30.

Brooks, who joined Worcestershire on a short-term red-ball loan earlier this month, has taken 61 wickets in 71 domestic T20 games. He took five wickets in last year's competition for Somerset.

"We have looked to reinforce our bowling group in the short term because of the injuries we've sustained, and Jack adds a known quality," Outlaws' head coach Peter Moores said.

"Both him and Conor each bring something unique, hence the reason we've bought them in.

"We've got an intense period of seven games in ten days over the next few weeks, so we need the depth and options at our disposal, and it is an exciting opportunity for both of them."

Somerset director of cricket, Andy Hurry, said: "As we stated recently when Jack joined Worcestershire on a short-term loan deal, we believe that it's key for him to be playing high quality competitive cricket despite opportunities being limited for him here at present.

"This move to Notts will enable him to continue to play competitive first XI cricket ahead of his anticipated return to us in June, a scenario that benefits Jack, Notts and ourselves, and we very much look forward to seeing him on his return."

Brooks will be available for selection for the Outlaws until June 8.
