T20 Blast Finals Day will stay at Edgbaston in 2019

Edgbaston will host the T20 Blast Finals Day in 2019, not Trent Bridge as had previously been planned.

The Birmingham ground has become the traditional home of the competition but had initially not been handed the event for next summer.

However, an arrangement has been reached whereby Trent Bridge acquires another England ODI against Pakistan, while the Blast stays at Edgbaston, where Finals Day will be played throughout the 2020-2024 cycle.

"Our members value international cricket and Edgbaston have made Finals Day their own so we worked together to find a schedule that played to the strengths of our venues,” said Nottinghamshire chief executive Lisa Pursehouse.

Trent Bridge have been handed another ODI instead

"Following the outcome of the major match awards earlier this year Edgbaston will host Finals Day from 2020-24 so it makes sense for them to retain it in 2019". “Having won the right to host the 50 over Final from 2020 onwards, we know the fifty-over format works well here.

"We have staged two sold-out Royal London One-Day Internationals in the past few weeks, had the highest domestic attendance in the Royal London One-Day Cup and felt there was a very clear logic in adding more 50-over matches to our schedule.

“We always look forward to hosting England and we’re really pleased to welcome Pakistan and their supporters back to Trent Bridge.”

Finals Day is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 21.

Lisa purshouse has sold Nottingham public down the river with this one. Dreadful decision and not sure she can speak for all members as certainly none were asked
