Sri Lanka have ditched head coach Chandika Hathurusingha from their selection panel midway through their Test series in Australia.
Hathurusingha will not be involved in picking the side for the second match against the Aussies in Canberra, which is due to begin on Friday, following his side's capitulation at the Gabba last week.

"SLC wishes to announce that the team selection while the team is on tour shall be made by a committee comprising of team manager and captain in consultation with the national selection committee," a statement from Sri Lanka Cricket read. "The majority decision of the manager, captain and members of the selection committee shall prevail on any selection made thereof.

"This decision was taken under the instructions of the Ministry of Sports in consideration of the need to form an effective and transparent selection mechanism whilst the team is on tour."
Bowling coach Rumesh Ratnayake insisted the tourists would not be affected by the abrupt decision to do away with Hathurusingha as a selector.
"That is a decision which the employers have taken and the people who run cricket have taken," he said. "It’s not easy but when things are down the challenges are getting stronger and stronger, so we hope as a group that when the chips are down we will be at our strongest."
Cricket in Sri Lanka is going through a turbulent time, with the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit involved in a wide-scale investigation of the sport on the island in addition to several meagre performances on the field.
