The ICC act after the mystery spinner's action was flagged up for a second time in August against New Zealand
Akila Dananjaya has been banned from bowling for 12 months after the ICC acted against the Sri Lanka spinner.
The 25-year-old was reported to the governing body for having a suspect bowling action for a second time following the first Test against New Zealand last August.
A full independent assessment of his action later that month revealed his action did breach the regulations.
Having previously been suspended for the same offence in December 2018 before being allowed to resume, the second violation in the space of two years means Dananjaya is now prohibited from bowling in international cricket for a year. He will have to apply to the ICC for a further assessment should he wish to bowl again following the end of the ban.
Dananjaya has played six Tests, 36 one-day internationals and 22 T20s during his Sri Lanka career.
He was left out of the upcoming tour of Pakistan over security fears and was not scheduled to be involved in the three ODIs or T20s during September and October.
