South Africa are ready to ring the change for fourth Test against England at The Wanderers after recalling four players to their squad.

Temba Bavuma, Beuran Hendricks, Keegan Petersen and Andile Phehlukwayo have returned to the group and have been ruled out of playing in the next round of Four-Day Franchise Series matches.

Kagiso Rabada is unavailable for the match in Johannesburg after picking up a fourth demerit point during the third Test following his celebration of the wicket of Joe Root.

England lead the series 2-1 heading into the final Test after claiming victory by an innings and 53 runs in Port Elizabeth.

Faf du Plessis is set to remain as South Africa's captain for the Test despite speculation he could step down from the role.

Selection could be dictated by rules regarding representation in The Proteas team. Playing XIs must average six players of colour, two of which must be black African, across a single season.

The quota could mean all four players feature when the Test gets underway on Friday, January 24, to ensure South Africa don't fall short of the target.

Of those under consideration, Bavuma is in the most impressive form having scored a first-class best of 180 for his domestic side Lions last week.

Uncapped batsman Petersen meanwhile scored a century against England for South Africa prior to the series and averages 51.50 against the red ball this season.

Meanwhile, South Africa have already started looking ahead to the limited-overs matches against England in February by sending several players to their centre of excellence in Pretoria.

Lungi Ngidi, Sisanda Magala, Jon-Jon Smuts and Tabraiz Shamsi have been withdrawn from their domestic commitments to prepare for the three ODIs and three T20s which take place next month.
