Dean Elgar and Temba Bavuma appointed South Africa Test and white-ball captains

Faf du Plessis retires from Test cricket: "My heart is clear, the time is right to walk into a new chapter"

South Africa will be without white-ball captain Temba Bavuma for the upcoming T20 series against Pakistan due to a hamstring injury.

The 30-year-old was appointed limited-overs skipper last month but must wait for his maiden outing leading The Proteas in the 20-over format.

Heinrich Klaasen will skipper the team in the four-match series.

"Temba is a tough guy so when you see him hobbling around and it's only got worse in the change room, the way he is walking, I think he might have done something fairly bad," said head coach Mark Boucher.

Reeza Hendricks and Dwaine Pretorius are missing but Rassie van der Dussen, who missed the third one-day international after suffering a quad strain moments before the toss, has been included but his fitness will be monitored.

IPL contingent Kagiso Rabada, Quinton de Kock, David Miller and Lungi Ngidi are all unavailable having departed for India after the second ODI.

South Africa T20I squad: Heinrich Klaasen (capt & wk), Bjorn Fortuin, Aiden Markram, Andile Phehlukwayo, Beuran Hendricks, George Linde, Rassie van der Dussen, Janneman Malan, Sisanda Magala, Wiaan Mulder, Tabraiz Shamsi, Lutho Sipamla, Kyle Verreynne, Pite van Biljon, Daryn Dupavillon, Migael Pretorius, Lizaad Williams, Wihan Lubbe.
