Kugandrie Govender, who previously held the role of chief commercial officer, was only appointed to the position in August following the resignation of Dr. Jacques Faul
Pholetsi Moseki has taken over as Cricket South Africa’s acting chief executive after Kugandrie Govender was suspended by the governing body.
Govender, who previously held the role of chief commercial officer, was only appointed to the position in August following the resignation of Dr. Jacques Faul, becoming the first woman to head the organisation in the process.
Her notice of suspension was delivered by Cricket South Africa’s interim board, with the hearing due to take place on January 28.
The specific charges against Govender centre on allegations of misconduct during her time as chief commercial officer and as acting chief executive, including the role she played in the revocation of media accreditation of certain journalists in December 2019.
She has also been charged with various breaches of the provisions of the Companies Act as a prescribed officer of CSA, as well as her role in the dismissal of Clive Eksteen, Cricket South Africa’s former head of sales, which has since been acknowledged as an unfair dismissal.
Govender has been suspended on full pay until the matter is resolved, during which time Moseki will take over as acting chief executive. He is the body’s chief financial officer.
