Entries are now being accepted for The Cricketer Schools Guide 2021, which lists the top 100 senior and top 50 prep and junior schools in the United Kingdom.

This upcoming edition will be the most important in the history of the guide. After the unforgettable summer of 2019, which saw England win the World Cup and draw a scintillating Ashes series, the scene was set for a stellar cricket season in 2020.

This wonderful opportunity has been shattered by the current pandemic. Even during the two World Wars, school cricket continued to be played but not this year. This all makes the summer of 2021 even more important and this guide will show how the legacy from the wonderful summer of 2019 is taking shape in schools up and down the country.

The successful 150 schools featured will once again have shown the strength of their coaching, facilities, fixture lists and results. Crucially, they will also have demonstrated remarkable character in delivering some form of cricket programme in the most challenging circumstances in 2020, be it virtual or otherwise. In addition, they will have detailed how cricket will bounce back within the school to play a vital role in the curriculum in 2021.

The Cricketer will be very proud to tell these stories and to shine a spotlight on star players. Alumni from previous schools to have featured litter the international scene, including England Test captain Joe Root (Worksop College) and young allrounder Sam Curran (Wellington College).

Last year's guide was a huge success, with the highest number of entries recorded. We anticipate many more trying to force their way into the list in 2021.

Editor Simon Hughes said: "This is a superb publication that will reveal just how much love there is for our summer game, even in times of extraordinary adversity. This guide is a tribute to all those teachers and coaches out there who are nurturing the talents of future club, county and international cricketers."

The Cricketer Schools Guide will be published with our December issue, which hits the newsstands on November 27.

Best of luck for the summer ahead, and we look forward to receiving your school's application.
