St Paul’s took the spoils in a London derby against Westminster School at Desert Springs to keep themselves in contention in The Cricketer Schools 100 tournament.

St Paul’s lost their first game on the opening day, but hit back with an efficient performance on day two to post their first two points.

Their innings was a case of steady accumulation built around a 53-run partnership for the second wicket between S Francombe (23) and A Hillman (32), which allowed St Paul’s to post 90 for 8 from their 100 balls.

Westminster struggled to get going in reply, taking just 10 runs from the 25-ball Powerplay and wound up on 69 for 7 by the end.

Ned Bowman set them back with two early wickets to put St Paul’s in control from an early point of the run-chase. He then took a good catch towards the end of the game when Westminster were threatening a comeback. Rory Walter took 3 for 22.

Epsom College lead the way in the tournament on four points going into the third day of five.
