A clinical eight-wicket victory over Westminster School made it five straight wins for Epsom College to confirm them as the 2024 Cricketer Schools 100 champions.
With 78 the target, a 53-run partnership between Ralphie Albert (23*) and Alfie Haxton (29*) broke the back of the chase to secure victory with 38 balls to spare.
Haxton finishes the tournament with 138 runs at an average of 69.00 and strike-rate of 126.61. The wicketkeeper-batsman’s unbeaten 76 against Bloxham school is also the highest score of the competition with two games to play.
For Westminster, who have played solid cricket throughout the tournament, it was again a case of players getting starts, looking good at the crease, but not having anyone accelerate towards a bigger score.
They were up against a talented bowling attack, however, with Ben Van Emden again impressing, taking figures of 4 for 20. Van Emden finishes the tournament with an impressive haul of 12 wickets to his name.
Epsom laid down a marker on day one of the tournament and their dominance continued throughout the week with commanding performances from start to finish.
