Will Turner’s swashbuckling performance stole the show as Bloxham School overcame Dean Close School in a Desert Springs thriller.

With Bloxham chasing 117, the duel came down to the final over with the equation eight off five becoming four from two.

Turner left nothing to chance, heaving a massive six over midwicket to spark jubilant scenes among the Bloxham squad.

Turner finished unbeaten on 36 (25) with two fours and three sixes to his name.

Charlie Watkins’ 38* (44) and Will Waltham’s run-a-ball 37* - the pair putting on 80 together to help their team recover from 10 for 2 - did the bulk of the damage as Dean Close found their way to a competitive 116 for 3.

It had the potential to be a winning total, but Turner’s hand was the deciding factor to ensure Bloxham finished their tournament on a winning note.
