The school has close partnerships with the county club and MCC
AKS Lytham have developed a cricket programme rooted in passion for the game and a strong sense of community.
As Liam Castellas, the school’s director of cricket, explains, AKS offers "a structured programme that builds a player's technical and tactical skills".
Regional connection sits at the heart of the school’s ethos. Through close partnerships with Lancashire Cricket and the MCC, AKS plays a leading role in strengthening the game across the Fylde Coast.
Lancashire have incorporated the school’s flagship CPD sessions into their own development programme, while the launch of an MCC Foundation Hub at AKS demonstrates what he describes as "a desire to grow cricket beyond the boundary of the AKS community and within our wider region".
This outward focus also creates clear pathways for pupils to join local clubs and continue their journey in the game. "We want our students to become the next generation of players, leaders, coaches and administrators, doing our part to grow the game."
That love for cricket begins early. "From our prep school upwards, we take pride in igniting that passion. Some go on to achieve representative or professional honours, others become stalwarts of their clubs — we're equally proud of every lifelong participant whose journey began here."
While AKS runs an enhanced performance programme for its most talented players, inclusivity remains central. Every pupil, regardless of experience or ability, benefits from expert coaching, structured training and regular fixtures - creating an environment where all can develop, enjoy their cricket and reach their potential.
AKS Lytham take particular pride in the flourishing girls’ cricket programme, which continues to grow in strength and success. With access to outstanding facilities and coaching, AKS girls have impressed at both regional and county level.
Participation continues to rise across all age groups, reflecting the school’s inclusive ethos and its commitment to developing talented, confident female cricketers.
That enthusiasm runs through every level of the programme. "The first thing on the agenda in prep school is to ignite their passion for cricket. How fast can you bowl? How hard can you hit?
"Can you outthink the opposition? We love the game as staff, and over time our passion becomes our students’ passion. Our programme builds that year on year."
