Multan: Quetta Gladiators 110, Multan Sultans 111-1 – Multan Sultans won by nine wickets

Scorecard

Multan Sultans bounced back from an agonising one-run defeat against Lahore Qalandars in style, completing a crushing nine-wicket victory over Quetta Gladiators.

Ihsanullah, in just his 10th T20 appearance, picked up career-best figures of 5 for 12 as the Gladiators were skittled for just 110, a total the Sultans chased down with 39 balls to spare.

The Gladiators lost Martin Guptill in the second over before a flurry of wickets either side of the end of the powerplay saw them collapse from 33 for 1 to 46 for 5.

Kieron Pollard and Abbas Afridi combined to remove Abdul Bangalzai before three quick wickets from Ihsanullah accounted for Sarfaraz Ahmed, Jason Roy – one of only two Gladiators batters to pass 20 – and Iftikhar Ahmed.

A 20-run stand between Umar Akmal and Mohammad Nawaz temporarily stemmed the flow of wickets but when Usama Mir pinned the latter lbw in the 12th over, it sparked another collapse, with three wickets falling for just two runs in the space of five deliveries. Ihsanullah completed his five-for with the wickets of Akmal and Naseem Shah.

Mohammad Hafeez (18) and Mohammad Hasnain (22) ensured their side at least made it into three figures but the Gladiators were all out for 110 in the penultimate over.

In reply, Nuwan Thushara trapped Shan Masood lbw to get Multan Sultans' chase off to a poor start but it was merely a hiccup as Mohammad Rizwan and Rilee Rossouw saw their side home without further loss.

Rossouw blasted 78 runs from 42 balls, including nine fours and three sixes, while Rizwan was unbeaten on 28.
