Scorecard

Multan Sultans extended their winning streak in PSL8 to three matches with a comfortable 52-run win over Islamabad United.

Fast bowler Abbas Afridi picked up 4 for 22, including the crucial wicket of Rassie van der Dussen, to derail United's chase.

Half-centuries from David Miller (52) and Mohammad Rizwan (50) has earlier helped the Sultans post 190 for 4 from their 20 overs, a total Islamabad United never looked like chasing.

United started brightly, removing Shan Masood (caught Tom Curran, bowled Rumman Raees) in the opening over, but were left to rue twice dropping Rizwan in the powerplay - Azam Khan and Curran were the guilty fielders. And Rizwan made them pay, piling on 91 runs off 65 deliveries for the second wicket with Rilee Rossouw.

Both players departed in the space of six balls shortly after drinks but David Miller (52 off 25) and Kieron Pollard (32 off 21) maintained the charge.

In reply, Mohammad Ilyas (2 for 12) took out Paul Stirling (5) and Hassan Nawaz (21) inside the powerplay before Colin Munro and van der Dussen built a promising third-wicket partnership.

Usama Mir (2 for 33) eventually got the better of Munro in the 11th over and after that, Islamabad United struggled to form any meaningful partnerships.

The key intervention, however, came in the 17th over when Afridi picked up three wickets in four balls to remove van der Dussen, Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Wasim before Ihsanullah (2 for 19) mopped up the final two wickets in the 18th.
