Scorecard

Karachi Kings picked up their first points of PSL8 with a comfortable 67-run win over Lahore Qalandars.

The Kings had lost their opening three matches but had no such struggles against the defending champions.

Batting first, Matthew Wade (36 off 24) and James Vince (46 off 36) made a fast start, sharing a 70-run first-wicket stand before the former was run out at the start of the eighth over.

Regular wickets threatened to disrupt their charge before Imad Wasim, batting at No.5, burst into action, putting on 52 runs off 35 balls with Ben Cutting (20 off 19) for the fifth wicket.

Wasim helped his side to 185 for 5 at close, finishing unbeaten on 35 off 19 deliveries, including two fours and two sixes.

In reply, the Qalandars lost Fakhar Zaman and Shai Hope inside the powerplay to hamper their chase before the runs began to dry up - Kamran Ghulam and Mirza Baig shared a 41-run stand off 41 balls for the third wicket.

And it only got worse following Baig's departure in the 13th over, with three wickets falling in the space of 10 deliveries as the Qalandars slumped to 91 for 5.

David Wiese was the next player to depart, caught by Shoaib Malik off the bowling of Aamer Yamin in the 16th, before four wickets in five balls at the death – two for Cutting and two for Akif Javed – wrapped up the two points for the Kings.

Javed finished with figures of 4 for 28 from 3.3 overs while Cutting's only over yielded 2 for 12. Yamin (2 for 18), Mohammad Amir (1 for 12) and Wasim (1 for 23) were the other wicket-takers.
