If there's anyone who knows a good T20 Blast experience when he sees it, it's Wayne Madsen.

The Derbyshire legend has played no fewer than 177 Blast games and is about to enter his 16th season competing in the tournament.

Now, he's hoping his love of playing home games at Derby will rub off on county cricket fans looking to experience something different this season.

"What makes the experience here at Derby so nice is the openness of the ground and the grass around it," says Madsen.

"From a family perspective, my wife and kids love coming down here."

The Central Co-op County Ground is certainly a breath of fresh air compared to big stadiums, while Derby's excellent transport links – there aren’t many major cities you can’t reach by a direct train from there – make it an obvious place for those looking for different cricket-watching experience this summer.

Upgrades, including a brand new Falcons FanZone, are set to enhance the atmosphere at home games too, with live pre-match entertainment, added food & drink options and activities for the whole family.

"What I think for me has changed quite a bit is it's become more family-friendly," says Madsen of the Derby experience.

"There are a lot more families coming down to games because of them being on weekends.

"It's certainly attracted a different audience to traditional cricket supporters and the entertainment factor is a big part of it."

There's plenty on the pitch to look forward to at Derby as well.

Returning Afghanistan mystery spinner AM Ghazanfar the county's leading wicket-taker in 2025, will return for the second half of the campaign.

Before that, Pakistan quick Akif Javed, who has been clocked at speeds of almost 93mph, is set to make his debut in English cricket with Derbyshire.

And new captain Nye Donald is also being tipped to break the record he equalled for the fastest half-century in the tournament's history last year too.

"We've got a couple of world-class overseas players who are going to be exciting to see," says Madsen.

"Nye Donald is probably one of the most exciting openers in the country to watch.

"With the way he plays at the top of the order, I wouldn't be surprised if he chases that record down again this year.

"We've got some really exciting players to watch."

Whatever your reason for making your debut at Derby this year, it really is going to be the place to be.
