Whether top players or complete beginners, the East Anglian firm's dedication to service and curation helps their customers solve all of their kit problems – whatever they may be
PROMOTIONAL FEATURE
Let’s face it, cricket is a sport that requires a lot of equipment.
For teachers and coaches alike, this can lead to all sorts of problems when it comes to ensuring everyone from first-teamers to newcomers has the gear they need to enjoy our great sport.
Thankfully, MR Cricket Hockey have made it their mission to ensure that cricket squads – and individual players – get the products that are right for them.
And, as experts in equipment curation, they’re not afraid to put in the hard yards on behalf of coaches in order to achieve that.
While MR Cricket Hockey’s clients include county sides like Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, the firm are keen to give the same devotion to all the schools and cricket clubs they supply.
“We’ve got lots of different schools and clubs who we have relationships with for their equipment needs,” says director Merrick Fuller.
“We’re all about wanting to save coaches time, so we’re happy to do the research and procurement when it comes to making sure they get what they need.
“We source from lots of different suppliers to get the best prices and the right products for them.
“Doing that legwork and doing the right deals for them is our way of giving back.”
With girls’ cricket participation expanding in schools and the sportswear industry adapting as a result, Merrick is committed to ensuring his stock is always up to date.
“Women’s and girls’ cricket is booming, particularly in independent schools, and there’s a real mix of both soft and hardball cricket played,” he says.
“We’re able to source the right products suitable for ladies cricket, good quality, light weight English willow bats at a cheaper prices for younger cricketers and those playing the game for the first time.
“The ECB are very keen on increasing participation and we want to help with that mission by supplying team kitbags, which remove the barrier of expensive equipment for individuals.”
Players and parents from non-cricketing backgrounds can also find the one-stop shop they need at MR Cricket Hockey’s headquarters near Cambridge.
“Independent schools have a lot of overseas students who have never been exposed to cricket before,” adds Merrick.
“They take up cricket and enjoy it, but the parents and pupils need that extra bit of advice on the equipment they are playing with.
“That’s where we can offer expert advice and make sure they get the right equipment, as well as giving them help regarding the care of their kit that you can’t get very easily online.”
