Why Bola's state-of-the-art centre outshines even county facilities

Bola’s state-of-the-art cricket centre in Bristol offers facilities that outshine even those enjoyed by county players.

Nye Williams, Bola co-founder and managing director, kept a focus on helping players to replicate conditions outside when creating the centre.

Lighting is supplemented with natural light and is "as close to being outside as you could get".

Nye said: "I’m a great fan of natural light. I think it civilises what can be quite stark and unfriendly indoor spaces.

"We also have the option to taper the amount of artificial light, relative to how much ambient light there is."

But factors including making the playing surfaces as true to life as possible for those found in a good standard of cricket are also set to cement the centre's reputation among both professional and amateur cricketers alike.

Nye added: "We have concentrated on the important things, so I think if any county player came in here and batted, they’d say 'this is fantastic, why aren't our spaces this nice?'"
