Nottinghamshire will be captained by Haseeb Hameed during their One-Day Cup campaign.

Steven Mullaney is unavailable for the county having been signed up by Trent Rockets for The Hundred, which runs alongside the 50-over competition

Twenty-four-year-old Hameed only moved to Trent Bridge in 2019 after being released by Lancashire.

He played five times in the Bob Willis Trophy last term, scoring 272 runs at 38.85 and hit three half-centuries.

Notts kick-off their campaign on July 25 against Warwickshire.

"It’s an honour to be handed the responsibility of being vice-captain and I’m also really looking forward to the challenge of leading a talented young team into the Royal London Cup," said Hameed.

"As captain in the 50-over game, we have a proud record in white-ball competitions as a club and that’s something we’ll be determined to continue.

"We have all the quality and depth in our squad to be successful across three competitions this year and that’s what we’re working hard to achieve."

Hameed will also act as vice-captain during the 2021 season, which begins against Durham in the County Championship on April 8.
