Sadler arrives from Leicestershire while Liddle has called time on his career at Gloucestershire to work alongside coach David Ripley
John Sadler and Chris Liddle have joined the Northamptonshire coaching set-up ahead of the 2020 campaign.
Thirty-eight-year-old Sadler arrives from Leicestershire, where he was assistant coach underneath Paul Nixon.
He played a key role in the form of Hassan Azad, who scored the most runs in County Championship Division Two last season, and will hope to transfer that success to his role with Northants.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be involved and looking forward to getting stuck in with the lads," said the two-time Twenty20 Cup winner.
"Part of the reason I wanted to be involved was to be involved in Division One cricket, it’s very exciting and I’m looking forward to us competing.
"I’m here to support Rips and the two captains first and foremost but then to bring support and expertise with the batters mainly."
Liddle meanwhile has confirmed his retirement from cricket, despite recently signing a new contract, and leaves Gloucestershire with immediate effect.
COUNTY HUB
The ex-Leicestershire and Sussex man moved to Gloucestershire in 2016, and during his spell took 74 wickets across all formats.
The 35-year-old has worked as a bowling consultant with Netherlands since 2018, including during the recent T20 World Cup Qualifier, and will now make a permanent move into coaching.
"I remember coming back from the World T20 Qualifiers and saying to my wife I think the time is right now to move to coaching," Liddle explained. "I got a real buzz off working with the players, putting plans in place and seeing them come to life and the way we went about that World Cup Qualifier was brilliant.
"I’ve been transitioning into coaching for quite a while, working with various teams and counties I’ve played for and the last couple of years with the Netherlands. Going to different series and the World Cup Qualifiers has put me in good stead for my next step now working with the bowlers at Northamptonshire."
