Joshua da Silva has been added to the 14-man squad for the match in Wellington and is in line for his Test debut
Kemar Roach and Shane Dowrich will miss West Indies' second Test against New Zealand in Wellington.
Thirty-two-year-old Roach is returning home following the death of his father over the weekend.
Dowrich meanwhile had a hand problem which prevented him from batting in either innings of the heavy first Test defeat at Seddon Park.
Windies also have concerns over Shimron Hetmyer, who sustained a concussion during the T20 series, and Keemo Paul's groin injury.
Joshua da Silva is in line to make his Test debut with the gloves in the absence of Dowrich.
Chemar Holder, who is also uncapped, is the leading candidate to replace Roach.
New Zealand can secure a series whitewash at Basin Reserve and are boosted by the return of BJ Watling, who missed the innings and 134-run first Test win with a hamstring injury.
