It's a numbers game! Here The Cricketer takes a look back at some of the stats to come out of the world of cricket this week...
Mohammed Shami became the ninth man to take a World Cup hat-trick, doing so in India’s narrow victory over Afghanistan at Southampton. Shami picked up the crucial wicket of Mohammad Nabi before bowling both Aftab Alam and Mujeeb ur Rahman first ball to secure an 11-run win.
Mitchell Starc has moved into second place on Australia’s list of World Cup wicket-takers. The left-arm quick has taken 37 in his career to date, passing Brett Lee (35). Only Glenn McGrath (71) has taken more.
Hashim Amla’s half-century against New Zealand at Edgbaston saw him cross the 8,000 ODI-run mark in his 176th innings. Only Virat Kohli (175) has reached the milestone in fewer innings.

This man is putting on a show. Shakib Al Hasan has been one of the World Cup’s standout performers so far. The Bangladesh allrounder’s performances have seen him pass the 6,000 ODI-run mark, becoming only the second to do so - after Tamim Iqbal - for Bangladesh.
Shimron Hetmyer’s 25-ball fifty against Bangladesh at Taunton equalled the tournament’s fastest half-century - the other being struck by Australia’s Alex Carey against India at The Oval.
India’s defeat of Pakistan at Old Trafford last Sunday was their seventh win in a row over their rivals in World Cups.
Virat Kohli has become the fastest to reach 11,000 ODI runs, doing so in 222 innings. That beats the previous record, set by Sachin Tendulkar, by 54 innings.

England skipper Eoin Morgan was dropped on 28 by Dawlat Zadran before going on to produce a mountainous innings against Afghanistan.
Morgan unleashed a tremendous knock, smashing a world record 17 (SEVENTEEN) sixes in an innings of 148. England hit 25 sixes in all - an ODI record. Afghanistan added eight of their own for a World Cup record of 33 in the match.
Morgan reached three figures in 57 deliveries - the fourth-fastest hundred in World Cup history.
The partnership of 189 between Joe Root and Morgan against is the highest by an England pairing in a World Cup match. It surpasses the 176-run stand between Dennis Amiss and Keith Fletcher against India at Lord’s in 1975. Morgan contributed 142 and Root 43 to that stand.

England Women’s T20 victory over West Indies at Northampton made it a remarkable 14 wins in a row across all formats.
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is undoubtedly one of white-ball cricket’s hottest properties, but even the best have off days. The spinner went for a hefty 110 from his nine overs against England on Tuesday.
Khan’s figures are the worst for a nine-over spell in ODI history. Wahab Riaz went for 110 from 10 overs against England in 2016 while Mick Lewis’ 0 for 113 against South Africa in 2006 are the worst figures in ODI history.
The Telegraph’s Nick Hoult reported that 41 kilos of biscuits were consumed in the Old Trafford media centre during India’s match against Pakistan. Good work everybody.
*We hope this is true
Apparently 41 kilos of biscuits were eaten in the media centre yesterday during the India-Pakistan game at Old Trafford. That is a lot of custard creams.
