On Friday, Sam and Tom Curran became the first pair of brothers to open the bowling in tandem for England. Sam picked up 1-33 while Tom recorded figures of 0-25 in England’s seven-wicket victory at Christchurch.

James Vince struck his maiden T20I half-century in that Christchurch victory. The Hampshire man hit 59 off 38 deliveries including seven fours and two sixes

In Adelaide, Australia recorded a series-opening victory over Sri Lanka, defeating the tourists by a mammoth 134-run margin.

Aaron Finch's side put on 233 for 2 - their highest T20 total on home soil - before restricting their opponents to 99 for 9 in reply.

The victory represents the eighth-largest T20I victory of all time in terms of runs. The Czech Republic’s frankly absurd 257-run defeat of Turkey earlier this year leads the way.

217

David Warner’s tally of 217 runs in Australia’s 3-0 series victory over Sri Lanka is the most by an Australian in a bilateral T20I contest for Australia.

Sri Lanka failed to dismiss the batsman throughout the entire three-match series. Warner hit unbeaten scores of 100 at Adelaide, 60 at Brisbane and 57 in the third and final match at the MCG.

85

Australia’s white-ball skipper Aaron Finch has now struck more T20I sixes than any other Australian. The opener hit three in his innings of 37 against Sri Lanka at the MCG, taking his overall tally to 85 (55 innings) in the format.

Warner is just one maximum behind his captain, having struck 84 sixes in 73 innings.
