The 29-year old captained Sri Lanka to a 3-0 victory over Pakistan during his previous stint as captain
Dasun Shanaka has been named Sri Lanka’s T20 captain for their upcoming tour of West Indies, replacing Lasith Malinga.
Sri Lanka travelled to the Caribbean on Monday (February 22) ahead of three T20Is, scheduled to start on Wednesday, March 3 at The Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua. They will also play three ODIs and three Tests during their stay.
Shanaka, an all-rounder, has made 40 T20 appearances for Sri Lanka, scoring 483 runs and taking 11 wickets. He previously captained his country to a 3-0 series win over Pakistan in 2019 and averaged 28 with the bat during that three-match run – 14 higher than his career average.
Four new faces feature in the Sri Lanka squad, following call-ups for uncapped players Ramesh Mendis, Dilshan Madushanka, Pathum Nissanka and Ashen Bandara.

Off the pitch, the side are also in turmoil following the surprise resignation of bowling coach, Chaminda Vaas, three days after he was appointed to the role.
