South Africa have announced the squad for their first international series in nearly nine months against England.

The Proteas have not completed a match since facing Australia at home last February and March. They returned to India for three ODIs but a ball wasn't bowled.

Glenten Sturrman's maiden call-up is the major headline of the announcement. The 28-year-old allrounder is joined by the fit-again Junior Dala in a 24-strong group which is selected for all six matches across both formats.

Convenor of selectors Victor Mpitsang said: "We’re very excited to be announcing this squad today. With the bio-secure environment where movement in and out of the squad will be limited, we had to make sure that we have all our bases covered with the 24 players.

"It also gives the team the opportunity to play some inter-squad games just to make sure that they sharpen up those white-ball skills before the series start. I’d like to wish the team and everyone involved all the best for the upcoming tour against England. I’m really looking forward to the summer ahead."

Quinton de Kock captains the team, having replaced Faf du Plessis as white-ball skipper at the start of the year.

The entire tour will be played behind closed doors at two venues at Cape Town and Paarl.

It kicks off with three T20s on November 27, 29 and December 1. The ODIs then take place on December 4, 6 and 9.

South Africa squad: Quinton De Kock (c), Temba Bavuma, Junior Dala, Faf du Plessis, Bjorn Fortuin, Beuran Hendricks, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, George Linde, Keshav Maharaj, Janneman Malan, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabriz Shamsi, Lutho Sipamla, JJ Smuts, Glenten Stuurman, Pite van Biljon, Rassie van der Dussen, Kyle Verreynne.
